Why take a drop taxi to Bangalore?
Chennai to Bangalore is one of the busiest intercity runs in the country, and there's no shortage of buses and trains. But if you're travelling with family, luggage, an elderly parent or just a tight schedule, a one-way cab is hard to beat. You leave from your door when it suits you, stop when you want, and get dropped at the exact address in Bangalore, whether that's Whitefield, Electronic City or the airport. And because it's a drop taxi, you only pay for one side.
The route
The drive is about 346 km on the six-lane Chennai–Bangalore highway (NH48), through Sriperumbudur, Vellore, Ambur, Krishnagiri and Hosur. In normal traffic it takes 6 to 7 hours. Getting out of Chennai and into Bangalore takes the most time, so an early start (before 6 a.m.) makes a real difference.
What it costs
In a sedan, Chennai to Bangalore comes to roughly ₹5,700 including driver bata. An Innova is around ₹7,500, and the 12-seater Force Urbania around ₹18,300. On top of that you pay the tolls and the Karnataka entry permit at actual cost. We tell you the exact amounts when you book.
Good places to stop
Vellore and Ambur (for biryani) are the natural breakfast or lunch stops. Krishnagiri is roughly the halfway point, with clean highway restaurants. Tell the driver if you'd like to visit the Golden Temple at Sripuram near Vellore. It's a short detour.
Tips
Carry some water and snacks, share the driver's number with family, and let us know about large luggage when you book so we send the right car. If you're catching a flight from Bangalore airport, plan for at least 7–8 hours from Chennai, door to door.
